About

Donal Thoms-Cappello is a writer, actor, teacher, and storyteller based in Vancouver, BC. He was born in New Jersey and spent career chapters in New York, Los Angeles, and Santa Fe. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia and a BFA in Acting from Rutgers University with training at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London.

A background in the arts, advocacy, and manufacturing, Donal specializes in eclectic works that find humor, and absurdity in the power dynamics of our world. His short film Candy World (Vancouver Short Film, Oakland International, Phoenix Short Film, and Santa Monica International Festivals) explores the existential dread lying in one moment of a film take, and his short play Leon Does The Haka (Brave New Playwrights) is a comedic take on an intern's struggle to find the U.S. Secretary of Defense during his one-night bender. He is currently working on a graphic novel, Powerscape, due to publish its first issue Fall 2025.

Donal's content writing has included curriculum content, lesson plans, manufacturing-themed articles for an industrial manufacturing company, and product description for a food-and-beverage small business' web presence. He also teaches Humanities and has designed secondary and post-secondary courses for English, First Peoples, and ESL subjects.
